WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY ALL ABOUT?

We, as Christians, know we believe in Jesus Christ, but if asked by someone outside of the faith what Christianity is, what would your reply be? Loving your neighbor? Loving God with your heart, soul, and mind? Spreading the word of the Gospel? Helping the poor and needy? Would it be about what you do as Christians or the reason for Christianity?

I recently thought about this question, and honestly, I think my response would be more about what I do and how I live rather than the reason for Christianity.

The reason for Christianity? Here it is, in a nutshell:

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The reason for Christianity is to reconcile man with God by the forgiveness of sin, the very thing that separated us from God, through God's one and only son Jesus Christ, the one who was without sin, by carrying our sins in His body to the cross, which were nailed to the cross in Him.

Jesus suffered the wrath of God for us. He died once, for all so that our sins are no longer counted by God. so that through Jesus Christ, we could once again live in righteousness with God, eternally. (see 1 Peter 2:24) (2 Corinthians 5).

By declaring that Jesus is Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead we are saved and born again in spirit and we become a new creature in Christ renewed by the Holy Spirit; the old life has gone a new life begins (Romans 10:9-10)

I encourage you to take a deeper dive into the reason for Christianity. There are many scriptures regarding salvation and I purposely have not included more of them in this post with the hope that you might take the time to research them on your own.

Yes, many of us may define Christianity by the works that we do for the sake of God, but the true meaning of Christianity is what God by His grace and love for the world, through His one and only son Jesus Christ has done for us and our belief and faith in Jesus Christ as our savior and Lord.
